Materials and Mediums

DESIGN WORK:

I use many different programs for my design work depending on the job and the need.  Programs I like to use include Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Procreate.  However, I also really enjoy getting dirty and hand making my own graphics, designs, images, etc and scanning them into the computer to manipulate.

 

ILLUSTRATIONS:

Picture books are my favorite type of publication because I am an artist through and through. The pictures tell so much of the story and brings the story to life!  I use mostly watercolor paints and colored pencils for my illustrations. 

I create the image first on sketch paper before moving to watercolor paper.

I prefer to work on watercolor paper as I like the heavyweight paper and textured effect. I can create and erase, paint and rework many times without damaging the paper.

TEXT:

I always type my stories on a device versus writing by hand.  While I love putting pen to paper, I am also a perfectionist and am constantly writing and rewriting sentences, pages and ideas.
